FAQs

What is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)?

A speech-language pathologist is a licensed healthcare professional who can assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders across the lifespan.

What do you specifically treat at CB Speech Therapy?

We specialize in working with the pediatric population. This means any child who experiences speech delays, articulation disorders, language disorders (comprehension and expression), fluency (stuttering), and social-pragmatic communication needs. We also are passionate about serving children with complex communication needs. We have diverse experience in incorporating Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) into assessment and treatment. This also includes supporting children with these difficulties that are secondary to other diagnoses, including but not limited to Autism, ADHD, and other developmental differences.

Do you work with children, adults, or both?

At this time, we primarily work with the pediatric population in individualized and often play-based activities in the home environment.

Where do sessions take place?

We are an in-home service provider. That means, we come to you! Therapy takes place in the comfort and familiarity of your home. Our hope is to promote carryover and generalization of skills into every routines and environments. As an added bonus, that’s one less place you have to go each week. We know how busy life can be!

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling us directly or filling out the contact form on our website. We will call you as promptly as possible to discuss your child’s needs and next steps.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, we do not bill insurance directly, but we can provide you with a monthly Superbill upon request. You can submit these to your insurance company for potential reimbursement; be sure to reach out to your insurance to see if your plan will do this for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session for any reason, no exceptions.

Late cancellation fees will apply. Notice allows us to offer that time to another family in need of services. Frequent cancellations can affect your reserved session day and time.

How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

If you have any concerns, it’s always a good idea to reach out to an SLP. Some signs include limited vocabulary, difficulty following directions, difficulty being understood by others, or challenges with social interactions. We can discuss more in-depth signs you might have noticed during your initial consultation.

How long will speech therapy take for my child?

Each and every child is different. That means progress timelines and outcomes will look different for each and every child. Many families begin to notice some changes within the first few months, especially with family involvement and reinforcement at home. We regularly monitor your child’s progress, and we are there for you to discuss it all with you, every step of the way.
